The Dew Drop Inn Hotel & Music Venue Historic Renovation

The Dew Drop Inn, located on Lasalle Street in the Central City neighborhood of New Orleans was a music venue in 1945 and later accommodated a barber’s shop, a hotel, a restaurant and a music and entertainment venue. The Dew Drop Inn was a landmark site for blues, jazz, and R&B musicians in the country, including Ray Charles, Joe Turner, and Irma Thomas. The music venue was closed in the late ‘60’s, and the hotel and barbers shop have been closed since Hurricane Katrina.

This project rehabilitated this historical landmark and brought back not only the original program, hotel, and music venue, but also the spirit of the Dew Drop Inn, presenting the New Orleans’ music scene and African American culture, which has significantly contributed to the city’s culture and history.
