NORA Mixed Used Development Public Private Partnership
Studio Kiro is currently working with People’s Housing and Alembic to renovate the early 20th century former New Orleans Fire Department building located on Louisiana Ave. into affordable housing and an early childhood center. The project includes restoring the firehouse’s historical façade and complete interior renovation including the former stables.
The early childhood center will be on the ground floor, with 7 multi-family affordable housing units on the second floor, while utilizing the additional space within the double front facing gable roof for 6 of the units to have a loft to maximize the unit’s square footage. Funding source anticipations include New Markets, historical tax credit and other public funding.
